This is a simple and useful oscillator, built, using just a 7400 chip ( 4 NAND gates ) and very few other components.

We are trying to generate a square wave form using 7400 IC for one component of out project can you please share the formula for timeperiod so that we can manipulate….

Hi,
The frequency of an astable multivibrator is f = 1/[ln(2)*(R1C1+R2C2)] and in practice is often approximated to f ≈ 0.7/RC.
